The Key of Prophecy

Jesus Christ is ultimately the grand theme of the Bible. Jesus said, “If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me” (Jn. 5:46). Jesus was promised to Adam and Eve, as the Seed who would crush the serpent’s head (Gen. 3:15). The closing words of the Bible declared that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10). Prophecy is about Jesus and Jesus is declared through a prophetic word. Jesus IS prophecy—He is God’s main message to humanity. Jesus is the reason why we

prophesy. Jesus is the “key” to prophecy. Even in a personal prophecy, where blessing and purpose is being declared upon an individual, the prophet is still directing this person to Jesus. The prophet is still saying, “This is your destiny in Christ. This is your story, as a part of God’s story.” Personal prophecies are still Jesus-centered prophecies.

Jesus’ name is the Word of God (Rev. 19:13). God is a God of order, and the spirit of the Word is not that of confusion, but rather of harmony and unity. All points to the Person and work of Jesus Christ. All of the prophecies in the bible point to Jesus Christ. All of these prophetic words were foundational for discovering who God is. All these biblical prophecies, biblical analogies, bible types are so rooted in Jesus Christ that his existence is the only thing that allow all of these things to make sense.
